Murga, popular in Uruguay, Argentina and some parts of Spain, is a form of musical theater, performed by groups of singers and musicians. During Carnaval in Uruguay, murga groups compete with each other. The groups perform original songs which typically blend humor and spectacle with social or political commentary.
