Photographs taken at a demonstration against the Criminal Justice Bill, London 1994.
The Criminal Justice Bill was one of the more invidious attempts made by the Conservative government of John Major to hijack the Rule of Law for its own ends, setting in place elaborate mechanisms against anyone threatening the security of the state - which is to say squatters, travellers, hunt saboteurs, roads protesters and dance music fans. At this public demonstration, both police and demonstrators behaved generally well, and there were only minor clashes. |
